Gould reveals some insights into understanding and learning fractions. In this presentation, using clear examples, he outlines four significant ways in which students' understanding of fractions can be strengthened. • Effective mental computation by Professor Alistair McIntosh (University of Tasmania). McIntosh suggests that the current approach to teaching mental computation in schools can be improved. In this presentation, he outlines key elements of an approach to computation in the Middle Years and with computations involving two- and three-digit numbers.
